Free film

Life Church is offering a free public viewing of the movie, “Fireproof” at 6 p.m. Sunday. The news release stated, “It costs nothing to come, but it pays great dividends for your marriage.” Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Childcare is free. Life Church is at 1801 Graphic Arts Road, across from the Emporia High School.

Church organ

The Federated Church in Burlingame will celebrate 100 years of faithful service of their Estey pipe organ at 3 p.m. Feb. 22. The program will feature present organist Margaret Weems; previous organists Darlene Smith Bond, Marjorie Black and Helen Farver Taylor; and Elisa Bickers, instructor of organ at Washburn University. Bickers is also the accompanist for the Lawrence Women’s Chorale and organist and pianist at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. She received first prize in the William Hall competition in organ performance in 2006, along with the hymn playing prize. This past year, she was a semifinalist in the National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance, sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. The program is free and open to the public. An offering will be taken to help defray expenses for the day. There will be a reception after the program.

Americus Grace Bible
