Justin David Wilson of Boy Scout Troop 152 will receive his Eagle Scout award during the ceremony at 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at the First Christian Church.
Wilson began Scouting in 1999 with Cub Scout Pack 131, sponsored by William Allen White School, where he received his Arrow of Light Award. He crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 157 at the First Christian Church, where he earned the rank of First Class Scout; he earned the rank of Star Scout while a member of Troop 165 at Grace United Methodist Church and completed the requirements of Life and Eagle Scout at Troop 152, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church.
His Eagle project included designing, collecting money and building materials and building a sandbox gazebo building to provide shade for the preschool children at the ESU Center for Early Childhood Education. He completed the project with the help and support of family members, local businesses and a Topeka-based business.
During his years in Scouting, Wilson attended many Cub Scout day camps, Boy Scout weekend campouts and summer camps at Camp Jayhawk in Kansas and twice at Camp Orr in Arkansas, where he earned his 50-miler award. He is also a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow, Sojadi Chapter.
He is the son of Laurie Kurzen and David Wilson, both of Emporia. He is the grandson of David and Carolyn Meierhoff of Emporia and Lewis and Ailene Wilson of Towanda.
