The ninth-ranked Emporia State women dropped one spot to fifth place in the latest South Central Regional rankings, released Wednesday.
The Lady Hornets dropped one spot because of their 78-72 loss at Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday. The ranking does take into account Emporia State’s 89-81 win at Southwest Baptist on Tuesday.
Emporia State is 20-3 overall, 14-2 in the MIAA and 16-3 against Division II competition. The Lady Hornets lead the MIAA by one game over Washburn, No. 7 in the regional rankings. Missouri Southern, ranked sixth, is Emporia State’s next opponent, as the Lady Hornets travel to Joplin, Mo., on Saturday.
The Emporia State men did not make the regional rankings for the second straight week. The Hornets debuted at No. 7 in the first regional ranking, but they have not appeared since.
