No injuries in fire near Admire

About one acre and one outbuilding burned in out of control burn

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Nobody was hurt in a fire near Admire Tuesday evening that destroyed an outbuilding and burned about an acre of land.

Richard Gould, Admire Fire Department fire chief, said the fire was called at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday at 3400 block of North Highway 99. Admire Fire Department, Lyon County Fire District No. 2 and two trucks from Miller Fire Department responded to the fire.

LeRoy Boline was burning some tree limbs and the fire got away from him, Gould said.

“It burned down an abandoned shed,” Gould said. “It wasn’t probably an acre...”

Gould said the field had a lot of cedar trees in it.

“Cedar trees are impressive when they take off,” he said.

The fire took less than an hour to extinguish and nobody was hurt, Gould said.

“We were really lucky were on the back of a hill and the wind wasn’t an issue for us,” Gould said.

Gould said Boline did not have a burn permit and received a citation.
