Late comeback keeps EMS undefeated

The Emporia Middle School eighth grade A-team came back from nine points down with 3:36 remaining to defeat Lawrence South 47-46 on Monday and remain undefeated.

Jackson Perez hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 42 seconds remaining. Lawrence South retook the lead with a free throw with 12 seconds left, then got the ball back with four seconds remaining, but good inbounds defense by the Vikings forced South to throw the ball away. Perez took the inbounds pass and found Dylan Thomsen underneath the basket for a layin as time expired.
