New Strawn, Lebo
The Coffey County Republican reported that rainbow trout were stocked in the New Strawn City Lake and the Lebo City Lake. The trout were delivered by Crystal Lake Fisheries of Ava, Mo. The company delivered about 530 trout to the Kids’ Pond at Lebo’s Ye Olde City Park and about 430 trout in New Strawn City Lake. Each fish weighs about 3/4 to 1 pound.
Madison
The Madison News reported that Darrel Finch, superintendent of schools at USD 386 and Madison High School principal, resigned his position this week. Finch has accepted a position at another school district. The board discussed procedure to be used in advertising and selecting a new superintendent and high school principal. The closing date for applications will be Feb. 27. Interviews will be conducted the week of March 9 and selection will be decided by March 20.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that Coffee County commissioners decided to waive landfill fees for the Coffey County Housing Authority for demolition for the demolition of 14 buildings. The structures will be demolished this spring.
