ESU women lose at UNO

Final

The Emporia State women blew an eight-point lead in the second half and lost its first MIAA road game this season on Saturday at Nebraska-Omaha, 78-72.

The Lady Hornets shot 10-of-21 from the free throw line and allowed an opponent to shoot over 50 percent for the first time this season — Nebraska-Omaha made 30-58 field goals.

Cassondra Boston led ESU with 22 points; Ida Edwards scored 16 and Brittney Miller added 11. Emporia State falls to 13-2 in the MIAA, but still has a one-game lead in the conference standings.

Half

Emporia State leads 37-35 at Nebraska-Omaha at half.

The Mavericks jumped out to a 10-3 lead, but the Lady Hornets responded with a 18-6 run to take the lead. Brittney Miller scored the final 10 points of the run and has a game-high 10 points.

Miller played only six minutes and picked her third foul with 3:47 left in the half.

Cassondra Boston has eight points, Allie Renberg has seven points and Ida Edwards has six points. The Lady Hornets are 3-of-10 at the free throw line, but they did shoot 59.3 percent from the field in the first half.
