IN THESE difficult economic times, many non-profit organizations and agencies could benefit from support provided by volunteers. There are many opportunities available which would serve to help our local community. If there is an agency that interests you, I challenge you to take that step.
Newman Regional Health is one of those organizations that is vital to our community, and we are seeking new volunteers. We have an immediate need in our gift shop. Other areas of service are the snack bar, information desks, mail and flower delivery and clerical asistance. We are constantly exploring new ways to serve while we strive to match your skills to an area best suited for you.
At Newman, we have an active group of wonderful volunteers. They are steady, reliable individuals that volunteer from the heart, expecting nothing monetary in return. They may work a few hours a day, or a few days a week. They are a generous group of people who come to share a wide range of skills and talent. Our members play an important role in the hospital’s mission to deliver high quality care and services. They make a difference in the lives of patients, their families, the hospital staff and the community. In the past three years, through their fundraising efforts, the hospital auxiliary has provided $14,487 for health-care scholarships. We have donated $51,853 for equipment that would not otherwise have been purchased.
Volunteering provides immeasurable rewards. You will enrich your own perspective in life, while experiencing the joy of giving one’s self in service to others. I invite you to join us. Please call Janet Haag, our volunteer coordinator, at 343-6800, Ext. 2525, or Linda Miller, membership chair, at 342-5448.
