LeRoy
The Coffey County Republican reported that LeRoy-Gridley USD 245, like other school districts across the state are trying to figure out what to do about their shrinking budget. The board voted to implement a four-day school week starting Jan. 4. School will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, which will extend the school day by 30 minutes. The schools will be closed on Friday.
Cottonwood Falls
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the New Dollar General in Cottonwood Falls is open for business. A grand opening will be held at a later date.
Clements
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the Chase County Board of Commissioners agreed to accept a $24,000 grant from the Kansas Heritage Trust Fund to repair flood damage to the Clements Stone Arch Bridge by a vote of 2-1. The grant comes with a $6,000 match.
