The Eureka Herald reported that Howard’s AF Super has closed its doors after nearly 37 years of business serving grocery needs in the Eureka area. Owners of the store, Howard and Connie Schlotterbeck, received an offer from G&W Foods and agreed to the offer. Only one grocery store is open in Eureka following the store’s closing.

The Coffey County Republican reported that Wolf Creek ended its 17th refueling outage on Nov. 21 when the plant’s output breakers were closed and the unit began producing electricity. When the plant is operating at 100 percent, it produces 1,235 megawatts — enough electricity to supply more than 800,000 customers.

The Coffey County Republican reported that its “Food for Lost Books” program cleared 86 accounts. More than 2,000 nonperishable food items were collected during the program. Food for Lost Books, an amnesty program of sorts, allowed patrons who had lost their library privileges due to failure to return materials, to donate nonperishable food items in exchange for lost items.
