Madison routs Lebo

Friday, December 4, 2009

Madison’s girls got out running early, putting up 41 points in the first half en route to a 62-46 win over Lebo in which the Wolves shot just 20 percent from the floor.

“We got a lot of open looks, and we got everything we wanted except the ball to go in,” Lebo coach Lucas Matile said. “It takes away your confidence defensively, too, when you can’t score.”

Morgan Stout led Madison with 20 points, and Brittany Shaklee added 15. The Bulldogs shot 44 percent from the floor and made 5 of 9 3-point attempts. The Wolves, on the other hand, made just 14 of 70 shots, including a frustrating 3-of-24 from 3-point range as they tried to mount a comeback.

“They were all good shots, too,” Matile said. “I didn’t think we forced anything tonight. Just didn’t go in.”

The Wolves were without one of their top players in senior post Morgan Laflin, who had her tonsils removed earlier this week and will be out for a couple of weeks.

As the Lebo Tournament continues, the Madison girls take on White City at 4 p.m. today. Lebo takes on Hartford at 7 p.m.
