Olathe South senior Kelsey Balcom verbally committed to sign with the Emporia State basketball team, the first player from the Class of 2010 to commit to the Lady Hornets.
Balcom averaged just over 12 points per game, six rebounds and 2.6 steals last year for the Falcons. She was an honorable mention All-State selection by both the Topeka Capital-Journal and the Wichita Eagle, and she made the All-Sunflower League first team.
Balcom was also being recruited by UMKC, Washburn, Pittsburg State and Northwest Missouri State.
ESU coach Brandon Schneider is not allowed to comment on players who have yet to sign a national letter of intent.
