The third-ranked Emporia State volleyball opened the UNO Showcase on Friday in Omaha, Neb., with two straight easy wins.
The Hornets started the day with a 3-0 win against North Alabama and finished with a 3-0 win over Dallas Baptist.
Against North Alabama, the Hornets had an ESU record five service aces in the 25-18, 25-15, 25-21 win.
Arica Shepard had a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Ting Liu had 30 assists, four digs and one service ace. Brianne Boner and Brittney Miller both had nine kills. Amy Byfield chipped in 10 digs.
Shepard again went for a double-double against Dallas Baptist, finishing with 13 kills and 10 assists. Miller had nine kills, followed by Megan Leuger’s seven kills. Leuger also had seven digs.
Ting Liu led the Hornets with 37 assists and also had five kills. Byfield once again led in digs with 12.
Emporia State resumed the tournament today against Eastern New Mexico at 9:30 a.m.
