The Emporia State soccer team struggled to score goals last season and it was more of the same in Friday’s opener at Rockhurst.
The Hornets lost 3-0 and were outshot 16-4.
Jessica Decker, Ashley Hill, Holli Schletzbaum and Tina Commons all recorded shots for the Hornets, and Katrina Goscha had four saves.
The Eagles got on the board first in the 26th minute, with their other two goals coming in the 68th and 88th minutes. ESU will travel to San Angelo, Texas for the Lone Star/MIAA crossover Sept. 4-6 on the campus of Angelo State. ESU will face East Central in the opener at 2 p.m. Sept. 4.
