Accreditation

Newman Medical Equipment and Supply, 1015 Industrial Road, has received a three-year accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care.

According to their certificate, “Newman Medical Equipment and Supply has demonstrated a commitment to providing quality care and services to consumers through compliance with ACHC’s nationally recognized accreditation standards and is therefore granted accreditation from July 2, 2009 through July 1, 2012.”

ACHC, a private, not-for-profit corporation, was developed by home care and community-based providers to help companies improve business operations and quality of patient care. Accreditation is a voluntary activity where health care organizations submit to peer review of their internal policies, processes and patient care, stated the news release.

Newman Medical Equipment and Supply specializes in the rental, sale and service of durable medical equipment and supplies including respiratory supplies, mobility aids, aids for activities of daily living, diabetic shoes, hospital beds, rehabilitation equipment and mastectomy and breastfeeding supplies.

Ribbon cutting

The Emporia Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau will be host at a Ribbon Cutting event at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9 for Flint Hills Laser Expressions, LLC, 912 Commercial St. This Ribbon Cutting is in celebration of the new location for Flint Hills Laser Expressions, LLC, owned by Rick and Rhonda Robidou.

The locally owned business has ESU and other athletic apparel “PLUS the largest selection of trophies and other engravable items in the area,” stated the news release. Custom T-shirts also are available. FHLC can produce “limited run, multi-color shirts at a very competitive pricing.” Engravable photos, custom ornaments and customized laser engraved marble, granite, wood and metal pieces are also available.

Re-elected

Donna Breshears and Taime Pitchford were re-elected to one-year terms as chair and co-chair of ESU’s Classified Assembly, which represents Emporia State University’s nearly 300 support staff members.

Breshears is the administrative officer of University Advancement, a position she has held for the past five years. Pitchford is senior administrative specialist for ESU’s Public Affairs and Marketing office, where she has worked the past eight years.

“We’re the representatives of Emporia State’s classified employees ,” Breshears said of the twelve-person Classified Assembly organization. The group sponsors the annual Kansas Day observance on the ESU campus and hosts seminars dealing on a variety of self-improvement topics.

“We also meet twice a year with the Kansas Board of Regents as part of that agency’s Classified and Support Staff Council,” Pitchford added.

Power rating

Shelter Mutual Insurance Company has earned recognition from J.D. Power and Associates as a top-performer in “customer satisfaction with the auto insurance shopping experience.” This recognition is based on the results of J.D.
