DR. BRADLEY RUPP, a urologist, who will start seeing patients at Newman Regional Health. He will see patients the first and third Wednesday of each month.
• The Emporia Zoo, which celebrated its 75th birthday. More than 1,000 people came to the zoo to celebrate.
• Jesse Solis, who spearheaded a fundraising campaign to raise more than $4,000 to provide signs at Emporia’s entrances designating Emporia as the birthplace of Veterans Day.
• Organizers and participants who took part in the Walk to D’feet ALS. More than 250 participated and the event raised $32,552.
• Jean Miller, who won the Third Annual Lyon County Area Senior Spelling Bee. Miller successfully spelled “irreversible” to win. Robert Grover placed second. They battled for 20 rounds.
