Lyon County commissioners had a lengthy consent agenda this morning, having placed all items from Wednesday’s study session onto the consent agenda.
Among the items on the consent agenda was signing the Public Health Emergency Preparedness contract between the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Lyon County Health Department. The contract is for a local and regional grant.
Ann Mayo, Lyon County health officer, said the local grant goes to the person who locally helps coordinate preparedness activities and the regional grant involves a group of eight counties including Lyon. The counties work together toward regional preparedness in the event of a mass emergency.
Other items on the consent agenda included:
• Consider approving Mike Morgan, Ken Schade, John O’Conner and Greg Wilkinson attending the gravel road maintenance seminar in Emporia on Sept. 30 and pay registration fee.
• Discuss approving the low bid of Cargill Salt for approximately 500 tons of delivered salt for ice control at $46.58 a ton for an estimated total amount of $23,290.
• Consider approving approximately 950 feet of used 13” steel casing from Frank Black Pipe & Supply Co. for $14 a foot for an estimated total of $13,300.
• Discuss approving the purchase of a used forklift from state surplus for $4,500.
• Consider approving Jim Brull’s attendance to the Legal Permitting and Regulatory Process Seminar in Topeka on Sept. 10 and pay the $65 registration.
• Approving and signing the utility agreement with AT&T on the Highway 50 and Road F improvements.
• Discuss Ken Barrows of L-CAT attending the Kansas Department of Transportation/KPTA Annual meeting and training from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 in Wichita.
• Approve a waiver of support for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance grant.
