The North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging’s “garageless” sale brought in around $3,500 Saturday. This is not counting the pancake feed and the lunch served, said Karen Hartenbower. The agency is trying to raise money to purchase the building, the site of the former Emporia Rehabilitation, and it is still more than $100,000 short.
Items for sale included 45 crank hospital beds with mattresses for $5 each and bedding to go with the beds for $5 a set. Other items included a few walkers and wheelchairs and boxes of games and crafts. Some office furniture, lift chairs and couches were sold as well.
