RCIL meeting
RCIL (Resource Center for Independent Living) Friends, a group of individuals who experience disability, meet at 2 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Emporia Public Library. “Come, discuss and compose your personal letter in support of making the Emporia Post Office doors accessible,” stated the news release. The meeting will include snacks and a drawing for Walmart gift cards. Reservations for special accommodations and attendance, needed by Monday, may be made by calling 342-1648 or toll free at 1-888-261-4024.
NAMI meeting
The Emporia Support Group of NAMI Kansas — Kansas’ Voice on Mental Illness will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 823 Merchant St. The speaker will be Emporia Police Chief Gary Smith. This meeting is an exception from the usual NAMI meetings held every third Monday of each month. For more information, call 342-1567 or 443-1567.
