Rust interrupts mail service

Q Why was the drop box in the alleyway at the Emporia Post Office closed this weekend?
A The old box went out of business on its own and had to be closed to the public until a replacement arrives.
“It’s rusted out at the bottom and we can’t secure it,” said Postmaster Roger Clark. “We’re getting a new box and we’re going to get it put in.”
The rust eroded away the bottom of the box, where it sits on the ground.
“It dropped, so we can’t shut the door at all,” Clark said.
If the new box, and the workman scheduled to set it in place, both arrive on time, the alley drop box could be open for business by this afternoon.

Whew! I'm so happy to hear about the replacement. For a moment I thought they were doing away with it. That box is such a huge time saver. Can you imagine the traffic in front of the post office without that box?
