Karey McKee and her family were without power Monday following the morning storm that brought a large portion of a tree down on their home.
McKee, who runs a home daycare, said she was in the home with a couple of kids around 8 a.m. when she heard a loud boom and then the lights went out. The tree had been hit by lightning, causing a large branch to snap off onto the home. The tree tore into the home’s guttering, cut off power and damaged the roof. But it didn’t come through the roof of the home.
“There’s absolutely no power,” McKee said at midday Monday. “I’m glad nobody got hurt. Just the house.”
McKee said her daycare could be shut down until later this week. She said she’s done her best to place some of the children with other providers but because her daycare runs two shifts, it’s difficult to find providers for all the children.
