For the only bed and breakfast in the Emporia city limits, it’s business as usual for the time being.
The White Rose Inn, 901 Merchant St., is for sale, but owner Sheri McGuire says the business is still open and running.
“We’re still there, we’re still open and we’re still accepting reservations,” McGuire said.
The For Sale signs have been taken down from the Merchant Street location, but the inn is still listed with Ek Real Estate.
“We’re showing it pretty regularly,” McGuire said. “We understand that it’s a specialty business, and we’re just waiting to find the right people that are going to love it as much as we did.”
McGuire and her husband, Scott, have operated the inn since they bought it in December 2005. McGuire herself has moved to Boise, Idaho, but Scott and manager Shannon Foxen have stayed behind to keep things running.
“I’m still going to be overseeing things from here, but they’re going to be running it,” McGuire said. “Scott lives at the inn and Shannon lives just across town, and all three of us are going to be working together.”
Business-wise, nothing at the inn will change unless the inn sells, McGuire said.
“We just want to remind people that we are still open and running,” she said.
