Ride Into History’s Amelia Earhart and Calamity Jane, also known as Ann Birney and Joyce Thierer, will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday at the post office building in Admire (studio is behind the post office). Also appearing will be Alexander Gardner, a Civil War-era photographer who photographed Abraham Lincoln more time than any other single person, portrayed by Doug McGovern, a photographer, teacher and engineer.
Admission is by donation to the Ride Into History Cultural and Educational Project, Inc., a non-profit organization that makes history accessible through the arts, stated the news release. For more information, call (620) 528-3580.
Donations will help the Admire PRIDE organization bring musician Thad Beach to the Admire Grade School. Beach and local historians will help students write a song based on community history and legend. The song will be performed at the Admire Fall Festival on Sept. 19.
