‘Garageless’ garage sale
The North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging will have a “garageless” garage sale of items left in the Emporia Rehabilitation Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 22 at the center. The group is raising money for the purchase and still needs $100,000.
The sale includes 45 crank hospital beds with mattresses for $5 each and a box of bedding to fit the beds at $5 each. Also, there are a few wheel chairs, walkers, and similar items, plus many craft supplies to be sold by the box. The sale is cash only. Sponsors will not deliver merchandise purchased.
Beth Dains Pees fundraiser
A benefit is being held to raise funds to help pay medical bills and travel expenses for Beth Dains Pees, who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
The benefit will be held Aug. 29 at the Sauder Community Center in Madison, the same day as the Madison City-Wide Garage Sales.
Baked goods and coffee will be for sale beginning at 8 a.m. A Sloppy Joe feed will start at 11 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m.
The benefit is sponsored by the Verdigris Valley Community Foundation. Donations made through the Foundation can be claimed as charitable contributions for tax purposes, a news release stated.
Beth Pees’ sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Randy Rice, have organized the fundraiser.
