Severe storms slammed through the area causing widespread damage in Lyon County and Chase County.
Sue Smith, owner of the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls, said there is a large tree down on the Chase County Courthouse lawn and the street is blocked off. Power is still on at the Emma Chase Cafe but the Methodist Church in Cottonwood Falls is out of power due to a tree knocking the power off the building.
It's also reported that a large tree by the Roniger Museum in Chase County is down.
Law enforcement is reporting that there is a tree in the southbound lane north of Americus.
Lunch customers at the New Breck Cafe in Americus are dining with candlelight, as the storm has knocked out power in that area also.
"It's starting to clear up now, but for a while you couldn't even see across the street," said cafe owner Jena Johnson.
No hail was reported in Americus, but rain and strong winds are causing problems for drivers.
The Main Street Pub & Grill is out of power as of 1:45 p.m. Tree limbs are being reported down in Allen and rain has slowed to a light sprinkle.
