A Back to School Swim will be held Friday at the Americus Pool. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade swim from 7 -8:30 p.m. Adult supervision is required for K-2. Grades 6-12 will swim from 9 to 11 p.m. A watermelon feed will be provided for each group.
Teachers from Americus, Admire, Reading and Northern Heights will have free admission. There is a $2 charge for all others. No swim passes will be accepted.
The pool now is open only on weekends through Labor Day. For information, (620) 443-5885.
Tractor drive
The Flint Hills Antique Power Association will sponsor a tractorcade Sept. 11 from Emporia to Ottawa for the Power of the Past Show and Swap meet. It is approximately a 60-mile drive.
The tractorcade will leave Emporia at 8:30 a.m. and travel on Old Highway 50 east to Williamsburg. The tractors will be on display while the group dines on barbecue for lunch.
The group will proceed to Ottawa where some of the tractors will be on display throughout the weekend and others will be trailered home.To have a tractor in the tractorcade, it must travel at least 12-miles per hour.
