Emporia Schools

BREAKFAST

Thursday: pancake minis or cereal and graham cookies.

Friday: sausage biscuit/jelly or cereal and graham cookies.

LUNCH

Thursday: corndog, tater tots, broccoli/cheese, fresh apple wedges, caramel dip.

Friday: chicken ranch panini, baby carrots/dip, tropical fruit, pumpkin bar.

Friendship Meals

EMPORIA

Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.

Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.

These meals will be served next week:

Monday: ham/pineapple, sweet potatoes, cole slaw/ carrots, bread, peaches.

Tuesday: hot turkey sandwich, potatoes/gravy, baby carrots, jello/fruit, applesauce cake.

Wednesday: meatloaf, boiled potatoes, creamy lettuce/pea salad, bread, strawberries/bananas.

Thursday: BBQ chicken, pasta salad, sliced tomatoes, bread, cantaloupe.

Friday: Hungarian goulash, noodles, cauliflower, bread, blueberry crisp.

NORTH LYON COUNTY

Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.

Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.

These meals will be served next week:

Monday: baked ham, candied sweet potatoes, corn/bread, fruit cocktail.

Tuesday: open-faced turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes/gravy, spinach, fruited gelatin, cookie.

Wednesday: meatloaf, baked potato, pea salad, strawberry shortcake.

Thursday: chicken salad bowl, breadsticks, honey dew melon, crispy rice bar.

Friday: goulash, tossed salad, garlic bread, mandarin oranges.

F Menus are provided by the senior meal programs and the Emporia school district.

Those friendship meals sound a lot more nourishing than what the kids get -- corn dogs!
