Strike out polio

The Kansas City Royals, in conjunction with the Rotary Foundation, have declared Aug. 23 as Strike Out Polio Day. Tickets sold by Rotary clubs for the Field Plaza Level on the third base side will sell for the regular price of $26 with a portion of sales returned to the Rotary Foundation for the polio eradication effort.
The game between the Royals and the Minnesota Twins will begin at 1:10 p.m.
The deadline for ordering and paying for tickets is Aug. 12, for tickets to be delivered. Call Chuck Frazier of the Emporia Rotary Club at 342-9016 or toll free at 877-667-6546. Rotarians will provide local pickup of payment or ticket delivery on request.
Tickets also may be ordered through Aug. 21 with pick up at the “will call” window, Gate C at Kauffman Stadium.
According to a news release, Rotary International and Rotarians around the globe have worked to erase polio around the world. The disease remains in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Nigeria.
