The MIAA coaches picked the Emporia State soccer team to finish in eighth place in Thursday’s preseason coaches poll.
Emporia State was picked ahead of only Missouri Western. The Hornets finished eighth in 2008 in the MIAA, also ahead of Missouri Western.
The Hornets return five starters from its team that finished
4-15 in 2008. The four wins were a vast improvement from 2007 when ESU went winless in coach Jim Schneiderhahn’s first season.
Emporia State opens its season at Rockhurst on Aug. 28. Emporia State’s home opener is Sept. 24 against Southwest Baptist at the ESU Pitch. All home games this season will be played at the Pitch, which is located north of the student recreation center on campus.
