Don’t do it

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read The Gazette on Tuesday evening (July 6).
The Fourth of July pictures featured a father and son enjoying fireworks. From a safety standpoint this is the what-not-to-do poster. My father handheld Roman candles; however, he always held them so neither end pointed at himself or others. It was still wrong! He always told others not to do it.
Roman candles are dangerous and in the event of a defective one they can shoot out of either end. To have yourself, or worse yet, loved ones at such extreme risk is foolish and foolhardy. People tend to think if they see it in the paper, it’s the thing to do. I’m here to tell you, in this case it isn’t.

I used to "handheld" roman candles and shoot them at my friends. The only reason I did this was because he did the same to me. The best part about that was that when the roman candle tube was empty, I could use it to shoot bottle rockets at my friends.
Linda, pussilanimous people like you really tick me off.
