An Emporia surgeon has decided to join Newman hospital’s physician group.
Dr. Tim Harris joined Newman Medical Partners on Saturday, according to a news release from Newman Regional Health. The medical group is a division of NRH. Other physicians in the group are Drs. Richard Rattay and Michael Yost, who joined the medical partnership in 2007 and operate Newman Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
Harris’s practice, Twin Rivers Surgical Clinic, became Newman Surgical Specialists with the change. The location and phone number, however, remain the same — 1301 W. 12th Ave., Suite 207, 342-6161 or 1-800-756-6684.
“With the ongoing changes in medicine, I feel the opportunity to join the medical team at Newman Regional Health will allow me to work more closely with the hospital to deliver excellent surgical care,” Harris wrote in a letter to the hospital’s medical staff.
Harris has practiced surgery in Emporia since 1991 and has been on the hospital’s medical staff since that time. Board-certified in general surgery, he received his undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University, his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo., and completed his internship and residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center.

I just can't thank Dr. Harris enough for taking great care of my dad after finding out he had colon cancer. I wish him nothing but the best!

Dr. Harris is a wonderful doctor. He also is kind to his patients and explains things well.
AND, he has a magnificent, beautiful singing voice. If you've ever stood in front of him and his family at church during the songs, you know what I'm talking about.

Really....he is a fine surgeon [I've seen him twice] and he's nice to talk to. He also rides a Harley...what more can I say?

Well, that "beautiful singing voice" explains how confident I felt when he explained a few things to me after a procedure last year.
He will make a fine addition to Newman's medical staff and will be Emporia's gain.
