Santa Fe Trail Republicans
The Santa Fe Trail Republican Women of North Lyon County meet at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Allen Senior Center in Allen.
Two speakers are scheduled before the business meeting.
Lynette Olson, adult services coordinator at the Emporia Public Library, will review “Mary Todd Lincoln’s White House” by Jean Baker of Goucher College at Baltimore, Md. Baker spoke at the Granada Theatre in February as part of the Lincoln Bicentennial Symposium.
The second speaker will be Cecilia Sanaie, second vice president of the Kansas Federation of Republican Women, who is making her official visit to the club. She is vice chairman of the national board’s Literacy Program.
Members will continue to bring Lincoln pennies to each meeting to purchase two Lincoln books for the Allen Library District 1. Clubs are encouraged to honor President Lincoln at each meeting during 2009.
