Emporia Main Street will host a Do it Yourself Property & Business Development Training.
The seminar, which will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 6, will have information on market conditions, a presentation on the Carbon Mercantile, a community-owned clothing store in Rawlings, Wyo.; a look at community-initiated business development; a look at the Rawlings Main Street Gallery, in Rawlings, Wyo.; and a primer on community initiated development.
Presenters include Todd Barman, a program officer with more than 17 years experience in the development field and more than 12 years of Main Street experience; Pam Thayer, Rawlings Downtown Development Authority/Main Street Executive Director since June 2006; and Jim Stephens, a volunteer consultant with the Kansas Small Business Development Center at Emporia State University.

There also will be a Downtown Upper Story Tour on Aug. 5. The tour starts at 6 p.m. at the Emporia Main Street office, 12 E. Fifth St. This is an opportunity for people to tour some of Emporia’s newly finished and potential upper story projects.
