Samuel Maurer, 29, of Emporia, was injured Wednesday in an accident on the Kansas Turnpike south of the Topeka south interchange.
According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol’s turnpike unit, Maurer lost control of the 1994 BMW he was driving, struck the inside barrier wall and overturned in the ditch.
The report stated that Maurer was injured and transported for treatment. The name of the hospital or health center was not provided in the report, and neither Stormont-Vail nor St. Francis hospitals listed Maurer as a patient. Maurer was wearing a seat belt.
The accident happened about 10:23 a.m. Wednesday on the southbound lanes at Milepost 173.5.
The barrier wall sustained damage and the BMW was towed from the scene of the accident.
