John Schwenn, former interim president of Emporia State University, will be inaugurated as the fourth president of Dalton State College on Friday morning in Dalton, Ga.
ESU President Michael Lane will attend the ceremony.
Schwenn assumed his duties at Dalton State on March 1, 2008. Before that, he was at ESU for many years as a professor, department chairman, dean of graduate studies and vice president for academic affairs. After the resignation of President Kay Schallenkamp, he served as interim president until Lane was hired.
Erroll B. Davis Jr., University System of Georgia chancellor, will conduct the presidential inauguration. Also in attendance will be special guests, including Robert E. Watts, chief operating officer and executive vice chancellor for administrative and fiscal affairs for the Georgia university system, and presidents and representatives from colleges and universities throughout the system, the state and the nation.
