Child care organizations and parents across the country will recognize May 8 as Provider Appreciation Day, stated a news release from The Family Resource Center Child Care R&R of Pittsburg. The special day, celebrated the Friday before Mother’s Day, recognizes child care providers and others who affect the lives of young children.

‘Cheetah Girl’ promotes fitness
The Girl Scouts have joined “Cheetah Girl” Sabrina Bryan in promoting fitness of young girls in a program, BYOU2, which in conjunction with “uniquely ME,” the Girl Scout/Dove self-esteem program will be held at dance parties on Friday in Emporia and on May 22 in Lyndon.
According to a news release, girls will participate in a “heart-pumping, fun, dance experience with the BYOU2 fitness DVD” that features Bryan and friends. Girls also will be introduced to self-esteem activities, developing a positive body image and taking care of their bodies and minds.”
