One of the nation's best-known psychiatrists will be featured at the Granada Theater on Saturday at a fundraising dinner to support the William Allen White house in Emporia.
The speaker at the 7 p.m. presentation will be Dr. Walt Menninger, a member of one of America’s leading medical families and a former CEO of the Menninger Foundation in Topeka. His topic: “Memory and History, Remembering It Like It Wasn’t.”
Emporians may attend the 6 p.m. fundraising dinner by paying $50 to the WAW Community Partnership at 927 Exchange Street, Emporia, KS 66801. Those who choose to attend the lecture only may purchase a balcony seat for $5 that night. The partnership is a locally based board of 15 members whose goal is to generate operating funds for the house, now owned and operated but not funded by the state.
Dr. Menninger, better known as Dr. Walt during his storied tenure at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, has volunteered to share his insights on behalf of the White home. Were William Allen White still with us, we are confident that he would be at the head table, enjoying dinner, ready to absorb the message, and brimming with questions.
