Enchilada dinner
The annual Emporia High School Latinos Unidos Scholarship Enchilada Dinner has been set to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the 12th Avenue Baptist Church, 2023 W. 12th Ave.
The cost will be $6 for 2 enchiladas, rice, dessert and beverage and chips and salsa. Diners will have a choice of chicken or shredded beef enchiladas.
“They can carry-out,” said Patricia Gilliam, EHS Spanish teacher and sponsor of Latinos Unidos. “They can come to the church and we will have extras there to sell. It would be best if they could reserve it, but if not, we will accept that also.”
Proceeds from the dinner will be donated to a scholarship fund that will be distributed by Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow.
“Normally we give six or seven scholarships, depending on the amount raised,” Gilliam said.
Orders for enchiladas may be placed through Friday by calling (620) 364-9887 after 3 p.m.
