E-cycling
The Household Hazardous Waste Department, 3000 W. South Ave., will accept electronics to be recycled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Televisions, microwaves, cell phones, stereos, VCRs, computer monitors, computer towers and printers are some of the items that will be accepted. They also will accept car and truck batteries. There is no charge to recycle any of these items. For more information, call 341-6365.
Tax workshop
A Sales and Withholding Tax Workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. May 5 at the Lyon County Extension Office, 2632 W. Highway 50. The cost is $10. The host for the workshop is the ESU Kansas Small Business Development Center. For more information, call Gwen Spade at 341-5308.
Real estate taxes
The last day for taxpayers to pay the last half of real estate and/or personal property taxes without a penalty is May 11. The deadline is May 10 (which falls on Sunday); therefore, there is no penalty if paid by Monday, May 11 or the postmark of May 10 will be accepted. The office hours for the Lyon County Treasurer are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Road opens
The Lyon County Highway Department has opened Road 300 between Road D and Road E.
