Emporia High continued its scoring struggles on Tuesday, losing to Seaman 1-0.
It was the second straight game and the fourth time this season the Spartans have been held scoreless.
EHS goalie Melanie Nuessen nearly recorded her second straight shutout, but the Vikings finally scored on a Mallory Diederich long shot into the corner of the net in the 64th minute.
The Spartans were outshot 35-5, and the Vikings had 14 shots on goal compared to just four for EHS.
“We were unable to develop an attack most of the night,” EHS coach John Decker said. “Seaman simply out-hustled us the entire evening. Luckily for us, they shot the ball very poorly and even missed on a penalty kick try.”
Emporia dropped to 4-4-1 with the loss. The Spartans will try to break their two-game scoreless streak on Monday at Topeka West.
