Republicans to meet
Lyon County Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Annex, 402 Commercial St. The speaker will be Sen. Jim Barnett of Emporia, who will speak about the current legislative session.
The meeting is open to the public.
Relay for Life
The Lyon County Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the Emporia High School track. The relay will end shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday. Proceeds from the relay will go to the society, with most of the money remaining for use in Lyon County.

Child seat inspection
There will be a child safety seat inspection from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Staples, 2200 Industrial Road. The event, which is sponsored by Safe Kids of Emporia, will have certified Safe Kids safety technicians inspect seats.
When going to the event bring the primary vehicle in which the seat will be used, the child safety seat and the child who sits in the seat.
In case of bad weather, the event will be at Longbine Auto Plaza, 3012 W. Highway 50.

Yeah, I do not understand Republicans wanting more government and more spending. All I can say is find a "third" party that you like and vote for them.
