The city and county commissions and the Emporia Board of Education all have meetings scheduled on Wednesday. Here are the agendas:
City Commission
The Emporia City Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a study session in the City Conference Room, 518 Mechanic St.
Items on the agenda include:
- Discuss 50/50 check valve and overhead sewer program.
- Review revised city fund balance policy for the general fund.
- Review revised debt collection policy.
- (10 a.m.) Review pricing models for the Municipal Golf Course and Jones Aquatic Center.
- Review draft changes to ambulance charges.
- Review pay rates for part-time employees.
County Commission
The Lyon County Commission will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday for a study session in the Lyon County Commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse, 430 Commercial St. Items on the agenda include:
- Doug Stueve, Council on Aging, will give the first quarter department review.
- Chip Woods, Lyon County engineer, will discuss the low bid of Norfolk Iron and Metal for $89,390.60 for structural steel; discuss the utility agreement with Cable One for the Highway 50 and Road F improvement; discuss Ron Gibson’s entrance application for an entrance on the north side of Road 130 between Road M and Road N; discuss appointing a chairperson and members for the selection committee to review letters of interest received for the construction inspection for KDOT project and set a date for the committee to meet.
- Robert Sullivan, community corrections, will discuss the approval of the fiscal year 2010 Juvenile Justice Authority grant award; and will discuss the approval of the fiscal year 2010 KDOT comprehensive plan.
- Richard Old, Lyon County undersheriff, will discuss the expenditure of up to $1,800 for a surveillance camera and equipment for Fund 84.
School board
Members of the Emporia board of education will take action on student handbooks at a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. Seventh Ave.
Members first will give the handbooks a second reading before taking a vote. The handbooks are for Emporia High School and Emporia Middle School.
The board will review the quarterly budget and will consider approving a request to purchase buses and declaring surplus property for donation, and hear a report, “Case in Campaigning Report on USD 253.”
