Kolmer finishes 13th in javelin at Kansas Relays

Mark Kolmer posted the best individual finish for the Emporia High in the high school events of the Kansas Relays on Friday at Memorial Stadium.
Kolmer took 13th in the javelin finals, posting a throw of 167 feet, 3 inches. At last year’s Relays, Kolmer finished fifth.
Emporia also got top-20 finishes in the 800-meter girls run from Jenna Stanbrough and in the girls shot put from Raelyn Pearson. Stanbrough finished 19th with a time of 2:26.48. Pearson, who broke the school record in the shot put in this year’s first meet, placed 20th with a throw of 36-1.5.
In the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash, Victoria Sims earned a 24th-place finish with a time of 1:03.62. Courtney Waldner was 34th in the 100-meter hurdles, running the event in 17.68 seconds.
The girls 4x400-meter relay team of Sims, Stanbrough, Alex Johnson and Lindy Arndt finished28th, and the boys team of Taylor Euler, Tyler Tilton, Josh Maguire and Kolmer finished 36th in the boys prelims.
The Kansas Relays were to continue this morning at 8 a.m.
