After-Hours planned
The Emporia Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau has planned a Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 527 Commercial St., Suite 304.
Reservations are required for the event, sponsored by Cassell Insurance, and may be phoned to 342-1699 or registered online in the Community Calendar section at www.emporiakschamber.org. Reservations must be in by Tuesday.
The cost is $5 for chamber members and their guests, $8 for non-members.
Flea market planned
The former Winter Furniture Company, 709 Commercial St., will reopen soon as a flea market and “Swap ’n’ Shop” business, according to an announcement from owner Dick Winter.
Winter and a partner, Tony DeAngelo, are looking for vendors to rent 10-foot square or 5-foot square spaces for the weekend of May 2 and 3.
All spaces will be inside on carpeted floors with electricity available. Spaces will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis, with advance reservations requested.
The flea market, “The Winter Vendor Village,” will be open from 9 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Winter said. Admission will be free to the public.
“There now is a need for people to sell things they make or need to eliminate,” he said. “People may even want to try a business they think will work. ...
“A flea market is a place to try out an idea to see if it works, or if a talent in making something will produce a sale.”
