The Emporia State track and field team picked up two provisional qualifying marks on Friday in California.
Sam Williams was part of both qualifiers at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific. The freshman ran a 10.56 to place third in the 100 meters and anchored the 400-meter relay team to a 41.12 and the championship at Azusa. Katie Mona also had a top-three finish, placing third in the 1,500 meters. Her time of 4:39.37 was a personal best for the freshman.
ESU will be back in action today on the West Coast. The majority of the athletes in California will compete at the VS Athletics Beach Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State. Josh Honeycutt will compete in the invitational triple jump at 4:30 p.m. at the Mt. SAC Relays.
