Senior recital
Dylan W. Evans of Lebo, a countertenor, will present his senior vocal recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Chapel on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan. Evans is a student of Reginald Pittman and a former student of Sondra Burden of Emporia. He graduated from Lebo High School and will graduate in May 2009 from KSU with degrees in animal science and food science. He is the son of John R. and Sara Evans of Lebo.
Photographer
The ESU Center for Great Plains Studies will be host for a free public meeting about pioneer Great Plains photographer F.M. Steele at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Kansas History Center, 6425 SW 6th Ave., in Topeka. Speakers from the area include folklorist, author and ESU professor Jim Hoy and landscape photographer and ESU professor Larry Schwarm, both of Emporia; along with Tom Rankin, director of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and John Carter, photographic historian at the Nebraska State Historical Society. Opera
The Weekend ESU Opera Theater and ESU Orchestra present an evening of two one-act operas: “Dido and Aeneas” by Henry Purcell and “Signor Deluso” by Thomas Passatieri, both directed by Penelope Speedie and conducted by James Starr, at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday in Albert Taylor Hall. Club scene
• “The Usual Suspects,” featuring Bob Haselhuhn, Dan Ratzlaff and S.C. Dixon, will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. today and May 1at The Noose. There is no cover charge.
