JESSICA BUCHHOLZ, an Emporia State University graduate who last Friday was named the new executive director of the Granada Theatre.
• The Emporia High School girls’ swim team, which finished in second place at last week’s home invitational meet.
• Darl and Amie May of Madison, who recently adopted Will, an English pointer that was struck by a hit-and-run driver last month.
• The Emporia State University baseball team, which swept Truman State University in four games on Saturday.
• Katie Mona and the ESU track team for their performance at Saturday’s Division II Challenge. Mona was named the women’s track athlete of the meet.
• Matthew Jones, a former Emporian and leukemia survivor who has been named a candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year.
• The Emporia St. Patrick’s Committee, which last week donated $4,000 each to the Learning Center Preschool and the Young Thespian Players.
• Megan Dennis, pitcher for the ESU Hornet softball team, who pitched a perfect game against Newman on Tuesday. Dennis’s perfect game consisted of 58 pitches, and the game lasted 55 minutes.
