A 1992 Geo Metro convertible will be given away early next week and raffle tickets for a second car — a classic ’67 Chevrolet Camaro — will go on sale on Wednesday in an ongoing fundraising effort to help gain cancer treatment for local businessman Dan Tebbetts.
A concert and auctions also are planned on May 5 at the Granada Theatre.
Tebbetts had undergone treatment for cancer of the bladder and was in the process of having the now-smaller tumor removed when surgeons discovered the cancer had spread to his stomach.
Tickets for the Metro, at a suggested donation of $5 each, are on sale at Midas Touch, CoreFirst Bank, Brady Optical, Crown Vic, D&T Auto Sales, Darryl Polzin Shelter Insurance, Bruff’s and from Connie or Larry Lewis, who are helping organize the fundraising efforts.
Tickets for the Camaro will be sold at a suggested donation of $20 each or three tickets for $50.
On Sunday, Sertoma Club will donate proceeds to the Tebbetts fund from miniature train rides in Soden’s Grove from 1 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, and beverages also will be sold to raise money.
Two acts have been booked for the concert. Items will be auctioned between performances by Callie Agler and by The Usual Suspects. SC Dixon will be master of ceremonies for the evening.
“It will be a fun night, and it’s on a Tuesday when there’s nothing else to do,” Connie Lewis said.
Doors open at the Granada at 6 p.m., to allow participants time to look at auction items and place silent bids on some of them. The concert and live auction will begin at 7 p.m.
Concert tickets are $15 per person or $25 for a couple, and may be purchased in advance at the Sweet Granada, Granada Coffee Co., Flint Hills Music, Bruff’s, Brady Optical, D&T Auto Sales and from the Lewises.
