The body of Thomas K. Reed, 22, was recovered this morning in a farm pond near Roads 260 and N.
According to information provided in a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff's office, Reed had been reported missing at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night by his roommate, Mike Fehr.
Fehr had returned home from work at about 9:30 p.m.
"Investigation revealed he had last been heard from when riding a green-broke colt about 2:20 p.m.," the news release stated.
A green-broke horse is one who has begun being trained for riding.
"Articles of his clothing found by a pond led searchers to search the pond on foot as deep as they could reach last night without result," the release said. "But, at first light this morning a small boat was put in and his body was recovered from about 15 feet of water at about 8:55 a.m."
The initial investigation has revealed no evidence of foul play and the death appears to have resulted from a riding accident.
"All of the circumstances will be thoroughly investigated," the release said.
Reed's body has been taken to the Shawnee County Coroner's office for an autopsy.
