Cars to be raffled for good cause

Monday, April 13, 2009

Tickets have gone on sale to raise money for treatment for local businessman Dan Tebbetts, who has been diagnosed with bladder and stomach cancer. Tebbetts already had undergone treatment to shrink the tumor on his bladder and was undergoing surgery to remove the smaller tumor that remained. Surgeons found cancer in his stomach at that time.

Fundraisers are being planned to help underwrite expenses for Tebbetts’ further treatment.

The first will feature a 1992 Geo Metro convertible that will be given away in a drawing. A donation of $5 per ticket is suggested to enter the drawing.

A 1967 Camaro, which currently is being painted, will be the prize in the second drawing. Tickets for the Camaro, a collector car, will be sold for suggested donations of $20 each or 3 tickets for $50.

The vehicles have been donated by Dan and Jannell Tebbetts’ businesses, D&T Auto Sales and Emporia Muffler.

Sertoma Club soon will operate its miniature train at Soden’s Grove, with proceeds to be donated to the Tebbetts fund. More information about the upcoming fundraisers, including a concert and dinner, will be announced later.

Tickets for the drawings may be had from Midas Touch, CoreFirst Bank, Brady Optical, Crown Vic, D&T Auto Sales, Connie and Larry Lewis, Darryl Polzin Shelter Insurance and Bruff’s.

More information may be had by calling the Lewises at 342-0826. Contributions also may be sent to the Dan Tebbetts Medical Fund at CoreFirst Bank, 701 Merchant St., Emporia KS 66801.
